After great experiences in Burgundy, the Dumont family decided in 2017 to refocus their wine activity on Ozenay and Cruzille. The château estate, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019, now operates 10.5 hectares in these two appellations.
From a reasoned cultivation, the estate gradually moved to full plowing and without weedkiller. In 2018, with the arrival of Frédéric Servais as manager, he turned to organic farming with Ecocert certification obtained in October 2021.
Le Clos des Avoueries, in the Mâcon-Cruzille appellation, is a 5.5 hectare monopoly in an exceptional location since it is completely isolated in the middle of boxwoods, dry stone walls and limestone lawns. A place very frequented by… game which appreciates its calm and its preserved nature. It produces fresh, powerful and mineral wines. Very Burgundy!
The Mâcon-Chardonnay “Les Crêts” comes from a 5-hectare vineyard, also without a direct neighbor. Facing due east, its terroir is composed of white limestone. Younger, she produces round, delicious and rich wines. Very Mâconnais!
Divided into 5 geological zones, the isolated location of the Clos du Chateau makes it possible to produce grapes that respect biodiversity. Harvested manually, they are vinified in micro-plots as naturally as possible, with only a little SO2. Fermentations take place at very low temperatures and therefore last several months. A unique process ! The wines already testify to the great personality of each place! In the Clos des Avoueries, the cuvées “Monopole”, “Calcaire”, “Les Pierres rouge” and the evocative “Barramine” are offered.
These efforts are bearing fruit and professionals attest to this. The estate is listed year after year in the Prestige Cellar of the BIVB (responsible for organizing representative tastings of Burgundy throughout the world).
